Seoul (South Korea) 13 October 2009 - A newly redesigned website has been launched for the World Design Capital 2010 programme of events (www.wdcseoul.kr),
showcasing the latest information that will be unveiled in the coming
year. This new and improved version of the website unveiled a fresh
look and includes the calendar of events, a variety of photos, as well
as a number of relevant industry articles and information on all
activities and events related to the World Design Capital Seoul 2010
calendar year.
Gateway to the City of Seoul's design information
As
a part of the WDC, the Seoul Design Headquarters has chronologically
posted details about its progress on a variety of design programmes on
the WDC Seoul 2010 website. From this site, visitors can easily find a
variety of information about the city’s design initiatives, including
events such as the Seoul Design Olympiad (SDO), the WDC New Year’s Eve
and Festival, the Seoul Design Assets Exhibition, and Dongdaemun Design
Plaza (DDP) designed by the world-renowned architect Zaha Hadid, which
is currently in construction, to name but a few. To this end, the WDC
Seoul 2010 website will serve as the gateway through which visitors can
be directed to other major event websites.
As the primary
communications tool for WDC Seoul 2010, the website will provide
regular updates and detailed information about current activities,
upcoming events, as well as other topics and useful links related to
the Seoul Metropolitan Government’s design projects for the city. In
addition, the Seoul Metropolitan Government plans to circulate a
monthly electronic newsletter listing latest project news.

About World Design Capital (WDC)
While
there are many awards that recognise individual accomplishments in
design, the World Design Capital™ (WDC) designation is unique as it
aims to focus on the broader essence of design’s impact on urban
spaces, economies and citizens. The designation provides a distinctive
opportunity for cities to feature their accomplishments in attracting
and promoting innovative design, as well as highlight their successes
in urban revitalisation strategies.
