A distinguished five-member jury unanimously endorsed Seoul's bid for the title of World Design Capital 2010.
"The jury was highly impressed by Seoul's application," confirmed Prof Dr. Peter Zec, Icsid Senator, World Design Capital Founding Chair, and 2010 jury member. "Seoul's remarkable achievements in design-led development - particularly in the past decade - exemplify the spirit of the World Design Capital designation."

Sergio Chiamparino, Mayor of Torino, Italy - Sergio Chiamparino has been Mayor of Torino since May 2001, having been a city councillor since 1993. Mayor Chiamparino was instrumental in ensuring the World Design Capital designation was effectively used as a fundamental lever for the territory's economic development and global positioning.
Jacques Lange, Past President of Icograda 2005-2007, South Africa - Jacques Lange was President (2005-2007) of the International Council of Graphic Design Associations (Icograda). He is an honourary board member of the South African Graphic Design Council (think), steering committee member of the SABS Design Institute's Design Achievers Awards, advisory committee member of the academic journal, Image & Text and a director of the Icograda Foundation. In addition, he is an advisor to various governmental, education and non-governmental institutions.
Marc Newson, Designer, Australia - Marc Newson's designs are present in major permanent museum collections including the Museum of Modern Art in New York, London's Design Museum, Musée national d'Art moderne - Centre Georges Pompidou, and the Vitra Design Museum. He currently holds a position as Adjunct Professor in Design at Sydney College of the Arts and the Creative Director of Qantas Airways.
Patricia Urquiola, Designer, Spain - Patricia Urquiola burst onto the industrial and furniture design scene several years ago, and has risen to be one of the top designers in her field. She graduated from the Faculty of Architecture of the Madrid Polytechnic and the Milan Polytechnic in 1989. Switching from architecture to design, Patricia Urquiola works in accordance with the highest academic standards taking into consideration the impact that her products have on people and designing pleasant and comfortable environments that encourage positive feelings and intimacy.
Prof. Dr. Peter Zec, Icsid Senator, Germany - Professor Dr. Peter Zec has been President of the internationally renowned Design Zentrum Nordrhein Westfalen since 1991. He developed the institution, founded in 1954, into a qualification and communication centre for business, design and society. For over 15 years now, Peter Zec has been working as a design consultant with numerous companies in foreign countries. He has gained worldwide recognition with lectures in more than 40 countries.
Prof. Dr. Zec served as President of the International Council of Societies of Industrial Design from 2005-2007 and is the founding chair of the World Design Capital project.
